Demonstration for Catalan independence at the GPO

In response to the massive demonstration that will take place in Barcelona this afternoon, Ireland for the Catalan Independence has called all Catalans residing in Dublin and surrounding areas as well as all those free citizens supporting the right of nations to decide by themselves to participate in an event that will be held TODAY, September the 11th, at 6pm in front of the General Post Office (GPO) on O'Connell Street (Dublin 1).
The GPO is one of the most symbolic buildings associated to Ireland’s process of emancipation from the British rule and it was there where the Irish Republic was proclaimed during the 1916 Easter Rising. It is for that reason that this location has been chosen for this special occasion.
Nevertheless, it is not the first time that the GPO columns host an event related to Catalonia as on the 24th of April 2010 a referendum for independence was celebrated; the "Yes" option won 93.7% of the votes.
In addition to that, on July the 10th of that same year and mirroring the 1 million demonstrators in Barcelona, more than fifty people among Catalans residing in Ireland, some Catalan tourists and some Irish, claimed the right to decide their own future (picture above).
